Madison Scott '20 has certainly had a stellar basketball season in 2019/2020. But, because of the pandemic, Madison will not be able to realize her dreams of playing in the McDonald's All American Tournament, the Jordan Brand Classic Nationals Team and GEICO Nationals Tournament.
With only weeks left of their senior year, Madison and her classmates are struggling to accept that all the senior school events traditional for this time of year, will be cancelled or postponed, and they will not share them together: the Senior Prom, the Senior Class Trip, Awards Ceremonies, those last days of celebration together, and, finally, their graduation at the Shrine.
Head Girls Basketball Coach, Frank Oliver, Jr., surprised Madison with her cap and gown at her home last week as part of Bishop McNamara's Senior Saturday. Watch the video of Coach's presentation as he asks her some questions about how it feels to get her cap and gown, about the tournaments, and what this time during the pandemic has taught her and her classmates.
WJLA-ABC7 made Madison their "Athlete of the Week" and a feature on the "Good Morning Washington" show including some of her WCAC game footage along with sound bites from this video.
Congratulations, Madison, Coach Oliver and the entire BMHS Girls Basketball Team. And congratulations to the Class of 2020! We hope the surprise of Senior Saturday yard signs, caps, gowns and 2020 sunglasses helped to bring smiles to your faces!
