Bishop McNamara High School is so fortunate each year to offer a number of scholarships or awards to deserving students that are endowed or supported by a host of generous benefactors. The M. ChrisTopher Williams Passports to the Future and M. ChrisTopher Williams Mount St. Mary's Awards, established by longtime and distinguished Bishop McNamara social studies teacher M. ChrisTopher Williams, are two such endowed awards.
The M. ChrisTopher Williams Passports to the Future Award provides a U.S. passport to graduating seniors who express a probable interest in studying abroad, an international volunteer program, or a course of studies leading to an international career. Mr. Williams endowed this award because he believes all students should have the opportunity to travel, work and study abroad to better understand and appreciate global diversity.
The M. ChrisTopher Williams Mount St. Mary's Award provides a supplemental award to seniors who will be attending Mount St. Mary's University. Dr. M. ChrisTopher Williams received an honorary doctorate from Mount St. Mary's University in 2001. Numerous alumni of Bishop McNamara who were current undergraduate and graduate students at Mount St. Mary's submitted Dr. M. ChrisTopher Williams' name to receive an honorary doctorate from Mount St. Mary's University. Mr. Williams endowed this award as a way to "give back" to graduating Bishop McNamara seniors who chose to go to Mount St. Mary’s University for their higher education.
For more information about these awards, contact Mr. Robert Nolte, Director of Business at Robert.Nolte@bmhs.org.
Please see the next edition of the Mustang Messenger/Annual Report for the full story about these awards and M. ChrisTopher Williams’s impact through his scholarship giving.
Thank you Mr. Williams for making a difference and for your lifetime commitment educating hearts and minds here at Bishop McNamara High School!
