On Giving Tuesday, alumnus and award-winning author Jason Reynolds '00, purchased all of the inventory of his books from independent bookstores and shops in D.C. and had them distributed back to kids in the D.C. area.
Jason saw this as a win-win situation for both the area independent bookstores who are struggling through the pandemic, and for the local children who may not have had the opportunity to get their hands on any of his novels.
The Oxon Hill native, Jason writes stories that tell of what it is like to grow up Black in America. The Young Adult fiction author is a two-time National Book Award finalist, a Newberry honoree, and the current National Ambassador for Young People' Literature.
Thank you for your generosity, Jason.
Pictures in the slideshow are prior to the pandemic when our students and faculty have enjoyed time speaking with Jason Reynolds at the Kennedy Center and Library of Congress.
