Announcing the Walter C. Webb, Sr. Endowed Scholarship

Mr. Walter Webb

Bishop McNamara is honored to announce the development of the Walter C. Webb, Sr. Endowed Scholarship.

Mr. Webb was the first African American teacher at BMHS, and a brilliant instructor and leader of the math department. He taught from 1970 until the mid-1980's, and proclaimed that teaching math was one of his greatest passions. His wife Alice always says that “my husband is the best math teacher anywhere". Additionally, both of his sons (Walter Jr. '88 and Joseph '96) graduated from Bishop McNamara.

Bishop McNamara President/CEO Dr. John Barnhardt noted, "It is wonderful to be able to honor this incredible educator from the Bishop McNamara community. Just in the past few weeks, we have received a number of stories, messages, and tributes to Mr. Webb, which shows his tremendous impact on his students. We are thrilled to be able to celebrate his legacy, both past and present, through this scholarship for our Mustangs for years to come."

The Walter C. Webb, Sr. Endowed Scholarship was created by alumni and Mr. Webb's family. The goal is $25,000 to endow this scholarship. Please help us reach this goal by donating to the Walter C. Webb, Sr. Scholarship here.
