Bishop McNamara High School Softball Program enjoyed great success during our recent Easter Recess - Spring Break. The Varsity softball team won the Howard High School Invitational tournament over Spring Break. The team won both games, with dominating hitting at the plate and excellent execution of small ball! MaKayla Marbury '22 hit two homeruns and Akilah Johnson '20 hit the game winning homerun as time expired in the second game!
Bailey Wilcox '20 reached her 500th Strikeout against St. John's in a 10-2 win.

Marbury, was 8-for-8 with three doubles, a triple, two home runs, seven RBI and eight runs scored. She drew five walks, reaching base safely in all 13 plate appearances, and slugged 2.375. Against Our Lady of Good Counsel, Benedict went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a homer, three RBI and three runs scored. She posted three more RBI with a double and triple in game one against The Academy of the Holy Cross. Marbury added another long ball in game two versus the Tartans and scored three times despite not having an official at bat against Bishop O'Connell.
MaKayla Marbury, a freshman second baseman for Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Maryland) High and a University of Maryland commit, has been on fire the last several weeks. Two weeks ago she went 8-for-8 with two home runs, three doubles, seven RBIs and eight runs scored and this week she was also in a groove as she went 9-for-11 with four home runs, 12 RBIs and seven runs scored.
FORESTVILLE – Bishop McNamara High School pitcher Bailey Wilcox finished a six-inning no-hitter, including 13 strikeouts, in a huge 11-0 win over St. John's on April 6. [Find more photos from McNamara's victory in our photo gallery here!]
The dominating outing from Wilcox was aided by the offensive support of the McNamara bats of left fielder Jaylah Romero-Thompson (two hits, RBI, three runs scored) and second baseman Tay-Lor Albright (three RBI including a walk-off triple).
The slaughter started off at the bottom of the first when freshman Makayla Marbury got her only hit of the day with an RBI single that sent home shortstop Jade Greene.
The first inning ended at 2-0 with an Albright ground ball that proved to be costly for St. John's when second baseman Haile Proctor recorded an error fielding the ball, driving in another Mustang run.
The Cadets committed seven errors in total, while senior pitcher Raye Thomas managed to strike out seven batters. However, Thomas gave up four earned runs in the five innings she pitched.
Wilcox continued her outstanding performance by mowing down St. John's for a quick 1-2-3 inning at the bottom of the second.
Congratulations, Lady Mustangs!
