Today’s Key Club’s topic for awareness week is gun violence! Gun violence has become an increasing problem over the years. There are more than 393 million guns in circulation in the United States approximately 120.5 guns for every 100 people. In 2015, 2,824 children (age 0 to 19 years) died by gunshot and an additional 13,723 were injured. Suicide rates are much higher in states with higher rates of gun ownership, even after controlling for differences among states for poverty, urbanization, unemployment, mental illness, and alcohol or drug abuse. Think about this: an 18 year old is eligible to purchase a gun but not alcohol? What does that say about America? Let’s make a change!

There is a mandatory senior meeting today at 11:15 AM in the fine arts theater. All seniors must attend. Seniors are being released today at 10:50 AM so they have time to purchase and/or eat lunch before the meeting. Please be on time and see Mrs. Carter or Mrs. Keller if you have questions.
