Announcing the Matthew Goyette Endowed Chair for Teaching Excellence, Mr. Nicholas Klimczak '07!
Posted 06/06/2018 06:45PM

Mr. Nicholas Klimczak the next Matthew Goyette Endowed Chair for Teaching Excellence We are so excited to announce that the next Matthew Goyette Endowed Chair for Teaching Excellence will be held by our BMHS science teacher and BMHS graduate, Mr. Nicholas Klimczak!

As part of this position, Mr. Klimczak will receive a cash stipend, augmented funds for professional development, and a reduced assignment of duties for the 2018-2019 school year.

His selection was made after a thorough process. Since the creation of this chair, we have received more than 95 nominations. This year the online nomination form was open for three weeks. Three finalists were identified after responses were counted and analyzed according to the award criteria. Finally, a selection committee reviewed all unedited recommendations. The selection committee included several former Caritas winners, Academic Dean Charles Shryock (who facilitated the process), and the first two endowed chairs Kathryn Heneghan and Michael Pozniak. The final decision was unanimous.

President/CEO Dr. Marco Clark commented on this selection by pointing out that, "the nominations for Mr. Klimczak gave evidence of his impact on this community, on both colleagues and students." He went on to explain that one colleague wrote about how much she has learned from him about "empathy, seeing students as individuals, and taking unique approaches to student learning." Another described him as "an innovative colleague who works tirelessly" and "is ready to take risk in the classroom in order to promote learning that is interesting and cutting edge." Another teacher wrote, "Every time I am around Mr. Klimczak I learn something, whether it be about science, a best practice or a student. I am constantly in awe of his ability to recall specific details about students he has taught in the past, including where they sat in class!"

Mr. Klimczak will be honored at the annual Caritas Award Night on Thursday, May 31 – if you would like to attend, please order tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at Caritas.

Please join us in congratulating a most excellent teacher, our own Mr. Nick Klimczak!
