Introducing the La Reine Science and Innovation Center at Bishop McNamara High School
Posted 05/11/2018 03:18PM

La Reine Science and Innovation Center On Saturday, May 5, 2018, Bishop McNamara High School officially kicked off the second phase of its Faith.Family.Future! Capital Campaign.

The first phase of the campaign saw an outpouring of support and the construction of the Andy Mona '82 Student Center. The School hosted an official groundbreaking ceremony in January 2017, and construction concluded in August, at the beginning of the 2017-18 school year.

The second phase of the campaign will feature the La Reine Science and Innovation Center, along with other vital endeavors to student support at Bishop McNamara High School; including building modernization/campus improvement and endowed scholarships. At the evening event on May 5th, Bishop McNamara showcased the renderings of the new La Reine Science and Innovation Center for the first time anywhere. The School was even able to offer a virtual tour of the building, allowing the attendees to see the new Science and Innovation Center with their own eyes. Not only will the new Science and Innovation Center bear the La Reine name, but it will also feature the La Reine crown and atom embossed into the floor at different entry points, along with the revered statue of the Virgin Mary, which once stood in the school itself.

The La Reine Science and Innovation Center will feature updated technology and state-of-the-art science labs and computer labs. Students will have more space for hands-on projects and activities focused in the fields of science, technology and engineering.

Our tech-hungry students will be able to challenge themselves and have real experience in the fields they wish to form their careers even before they get to college! With this innovative new center devoted to the sciences, there was no doubt that the center should be named after our previous sister school, La Reine High School.

Prior to its closing in the early 1990s, La Reine was far ahead of its time, particularly in its science curriculum. Alumnae from La Reine are renowned leaders in their fields; they are doctors, entrepreneurs, strategic planning experts, motivational speakers, CEOs and so much more. It was very important to us that we preserve the La Reine legacy of excellence, leadership and innovation. As we move forward with the next phase of our Campaign, and continue to raise funds devoted to our La Reine Science and Innovation Center, we will forever cement the influence and legacy of La Reine into our School and community.

More information, including naming opportunities and Campaign updates, will be forthcoming. Let us rally together to support Bishop McNamara High School in its next 50 years of excellence in education, and the La Reine High School legacy of leadership and innovation.
