We are proud to announce that the Bishop McNamara Wind Ensemble has been invited by the University of Maryland School of Music to share in a unique collaboration on Friday, March 2, 2018. This tremendous evening of music will open with our own BMHS Wind Ensemble performing works by Timothy Mahr, John Mackey, and Frank Ticheli. The University of Maryland Wind Ensemble will then take the stage, under the baton of Dr. Michael Votta, to perform works by Richard Wagner and David Maslanka. These two ensembles will then combine their talents to present four movements of The Williams Byrd Suite, a cornerstone of renaissance music adapted for wind band by Gordon Jacob. The concert will culminate with the exciting Galop by Dmitri Shostakovich.
We hope to fill the beautiful Dekelboum Concert Hall at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center with family, friends, and alumni from Bishop McNamara. Please pass the word - share on social media, call family and friends. The event starts at 8:00 pm.
The concert is free and open to the public. We hope to see you in the audience.
See you on March 2nd. What a great evening of music!
