Come join us for an event filled and fun summer at Bishop McNamara High School! The Summer Camp Program will be offering many opportunities and experiences throughout the summer.

We have expanded our camp offerings to include:


These camps feature opportunities of enrichment in the areas of English, Math, Science, Engineering and Technology! These different workshops and camps will help students develop the fundamentals of each subject and challenge campers in areas they are strong and to strengthen and encourage them in areas they are weak! These camps are modeled to prepare campers for the rigors of a college prep high school curriculum!  


These camps feature week-long sessions in football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball, cheerleading and dance team! These camps will give campers the opportunity to receive instruction from our different coaching staffs and learn what it means to be an athlete at Bishop McNamara. All of our athletic camps are run by the head coach of our different programs and will feature our student-athletes as counselors. These are great opportunities to come out be a part of the growing Bishop McNamara athletic culture. 


We have expanded our opportunities in offerings in the Fine Arts to include dance camp, dance intensives, percussion, African dance and Zumba camps, vocal excellence camps, musical theatre camps, sewing camps and Beauty camps! Most camps are lead by Bishop McNamara instructors and will give campers an insight to the wonderful Fine Arts programs we have to offer in our full curriculum!  


We are excited to be offering different leadership opportunities. We have joined up with two entrepreneurial and leadership camps that will help younger and high school aged students develop the skills necessary to compete in a growing business world!

Description: This math program is designed for students in 5th and 6th grade (ages 10-12) to improve their problem solving skills. The focus of this program is on problem solving, explorations of mathematical knowledge, and improvement of analytical skills. This program aims to help students improve their performance in general mathematical skills.

7th & 8th Grade Math- $125

Description: This math session will teach campers how math is involved in every day life, from nature to sports and more. Campers will also be able to reinforce and develop a stronger sense of quick calculations through shortcuts and skill development.

Description:This camp is going to be used to strengthen basic skills that are needed to be successful in 9th and 10th grade mathematics. There will be a focus of skills that are used  in Algebra 1. Algebra 2 and Geometry. The goals of the program is to asses where the students level is and give them the skills they need in order to be successful the next time they see any of the material.

English Writing Workshop - $150

Description: This one-week writing workshop will focus on the fundamentals of writing at a high school level.  Lecture will put emphasis on analyzing essays, writing high school level paragraphs, and compiling mini-research.  Special attention will be considered for specific questions and personal writing struggles, so students are encouraged to ask questions and ask for extra help in regards to English/Lit.  Students will also learn to better formulate arguments and properly format a professional essay.  Along with helping students develop critical reading and organizational skills, the course will also feature close readings of popular high school texts.  The students will become familiar with works of literature that will be seen again during their high school careers as well as college.  Having prior information on these works will place them in a significant point of advantage when they are confronted with the same material during the school year.  By the end of this course students will have a greater understanding of the writing process as well as a more culturally rounded knowledge of commonly used literary works.

STEM.ed Institute at BMHS in the Summer- $150

Description: The STEM.ed Institute is a one week summer program offered at Bishop McNamara High School that incorporates various aspects of STEM through the design loop.  Students will work in small groups to design structures and solutions to numerous problems. that involve all aspects of science, technology, engineering, and math but is not limited to simple lectures and instruction.  Students will become hands-on scientists and engineers to build various items from castles to bridges, to hot air balloons and chemical reactions.  The summer institute has been developed to enhance students prior knowledge of science and to enlarge their interest and potential in the area of STEM.

Computer Programming Camp - $150

Description: This one-week programming camp will focus on the fundamentals of object-oriented programming (particularly in the Java language).  We will begin with basic programming concepts, using block-level coding, and progress through more interactive problem-solving.  Students will learn to understand what objects are, and how classes and methods work together to bring life to lines of Java code.  We will look to create simple programs that print out sentences, others that open small applications and even work with some gaming concepts!  Along with helping students develop attention skills and complete detail-oriented tasks, the camp will be designed to help students think independently.  All of this will be done in a fun, relaxed environment where students can explore their interest in innovation.  With this experience, students will undoubtedly be more prepared for the next levels of education, all while having fun engaging with the ever-changing world of technology!

Spanish Camp - $150 Per Session

Description: Summer Spanish Camp is a terrific way for children to develop and reinforce Spanish language skills through music, stories, theater, arts and crafts. Campers spend each day doing fun, educational activities, an experience that not only teaches, but also allows for an amazing day full of learning and fun.  This camp is offered for youth ages 7-12.

Student Athlete Camps- $215-$250

The Student Athlete Camps offer the best of both worlds. Campers get to experience a 1/2 day academic enrichment (9 am-12 pm or 1-4 pm) and a 1/2 day athletic camp (9 am-12pm or 1-4 pm). Please pay close attention to individual camp times. Prices vary depending on which enrichment and athletic camp combination you choose.

Cheerleading- $200

Description:This camp is designed for the aspiring young athlete who wants to develop cheer skills in an exciting, creative and fun atmosphere. Campers will learn individual cheer skills, basic tumbling, partner stunts, dance and, most importantly, teamwork. BMHS cheerleading teaches young athletes all the essential skills to lead the crowd and support the home team. There is a big focus on fun while each cheerleader learns important life skills such as team building and leadership. The week concludes with a choreographed performance for family and friends.


Lady Mustang Dance Team Camp - $200

Description: The BMHS Lady Mustang Dance Team Camp is a one-week experience for intermediate and intermediate-advanced level dancers that are willing to commit and refine their dance skills. The Lady Mustang Summer Dance Team camp will provide your child with fierce, fun, and technical choreography in Poms, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Stand Dancing. This camp is all about cardio, high energy, entertaining dance moves, great music, and crowd excitement. Participants can expect to learn drills and tricks in the style of the award-winning Lady Mustangs that will have them ready for halftime. The program is designed to expose young dancers to what being part of a Varsity Dance Team is all about: spirit, confidence, performance quality, team fundamentals, choreography retention, and a bond that lasts a lifetime. Our BMHS Dance Team camp is led by BMHS Classical Dance Faculty, Joffrey Ballet School Jazz/Contemporary Intensive Faculty and current Head Coach Danielle Ward '07, BMHS African Music & Dance Faculty, former Orlando Magic Dance Team member and current Assistant Coach Christy Bartholomew, and former Disney performer & Zumba instructor Brandon Whitelow '13 all bringing years of experience as teachers and professional performers. The camp is also assisted by current BMHS Varsity Dance Team members who bring gems of our special traditions, flare, and leadership that make our seasons special. At the end of the week, dancers will hold a small performance to showcase their new skill set and an original piece of choreography, taught by our Lady Mustangs. During this camp, the coaching staff will be looking for dancers to potentially join the BMHS Varsity Dance Team for their football, basketball, and competition seasons.

Description: The Bishop McNamara Boy's Basketball / Football camp is 
designed for boys who want to learn both the basketball and football  fundamentals in a fun and positive atmosphere. Campers will be taught both basketball and football position specific drills. This camp will help develop each campers skills in a competitive, intense, and fun environment. Shooting, passing, footwork and ball handling will be taught at the basic, intermediate, and advanced level. Group instruction is also provided with time allotted for practice, drills, contests, and games.  
Football players can expect to work hard on improving skills at positions they wish to improve. 
Counselors will also supervise competitions between campers to ensure they are applying the correct techniques taught in camp.

Soccer (Men's) - $175

Description: The Bishop McNamara Soccer ID Camp is open to boys between 5th grade-9th grade. The BMHS Boys Soccer Camp is designed to provide all ranges of soccer athletes the opportunity to improve as a player and prepare themselves for the Fall season. 
Players will learn the fundamental technical skills and team tactical concepts of the game of soccer. Each camper will be provided high-level instruction and will participate in individual skill development, emphasis on teamwork and play competitive games each day.
All training and instruction will given by the Bishop McNamara High School Coaching Staff and experienced counselors.
Camp Equipment: Each camper is expected to provide his own equipment. This includes shorts, runner or indoor soccer shoes , molded cleats, shin guards and light rain gear.
All campers will receive a Bishop McNamara Soccer Camp T-shirt, compliments of the soccer program, at the end of the camp.

Nutrition- For All Athletes - Proper nutrition is extremely important.

Volleyball - $200

Description: Our purpose is to develop skills and confidence that lead to a successful and competitive volleyball future. Our enthusiastic staff help to provide a safe and fun environment for all campers of all skill levels while sharing their love for the game. We practice all skills of the game while creating a team atmosphere.

The techniques and skills taught in this camp are designed to provide a strong foundation that allows players to develop into high level athletes as they continue to play. All skills will be covered including passing, setting, hitting, defense, blocking, serving as well as offensive and defensive systems. Camp is primarily staffed by former BMHS volleyball players and current collegiate level players. All campers must wear athletic clothing and shoes and must bring a pair of knee pads. Kneepads will be available for purchase the day of camp if needed. Ages 8-18.

Camp Director: Kamisha Kellam, BMHS c/o 05. Four year letter winner at BMHS, played Division 1 volleyball at the University of Albany where she won 3 America East Conference championships and 3 NCAA Tournament Appearances, First team all conference and player of the year accolades. Coached at BMHS from 2011-2015 then went on to become the assistant coach at Howard University where the team won their first championship and NCAA tournament appearance since 1994.

Theatre - Middle School Musical Theatre Summer Camp

Description: Join us this summer for weeks full of singing, dancing, and acting on stage. Each week will end with a themed showcase (week 1: Intro to Acting and Musical Theatre; week 2: Storytelling and Technical Theater; week 3: Kids on Broadway).  During each week campers will learn dialogue, blocking, music and choreography. Each day will include singing, dancing, and acting, as well as lots of theater games, crafts and summer fun! We recognize each child’s unique talent and will give them the necessary building blocks to grow as a performer. Whatever their prior experience, young actors will develop/fine-tune their musical theater skills. The entire session promises to be engaging, challenging, and inspiring. Minimum 10 campers for each week, maximum 15 campers for each week.

BMHS Dance Camp - $225

Description:Our dynamic full day camp offers classes in ballet, lyrical, hip hop and jazz. Campers can expect to learn technique, conditioning and choreography. The BMHS Dance Camp is a one week program for students with 0-5 years of dance experience who are energetic, disciplined, and generous in spirit. The program is designed to teach and refine technique and performance and broadening understanding of various dance styles. Our dance camp is taught by instructors who have years of experience.
Supplies needed:
Ballet slippers, jazz shoes, black leotards and light tights. Dance sweaters are permitted.

Males– Black ballet slippers, jazz shoes, white tee shirt and shorts.

**Girls’ hair must be secured back away from the face. No excessive or dangling

Abstract: Percussion, African Dance, and Zumba Fitness are coming together to educate, stimulate, and train your child using various, cross-cultural techniques from South America, the Caribbean, and Sub-Saharan Africa! P.A.D.Z. (Percussion, African Dance, & Zumba) is a fun-filled and interactive summer camp experience where your child will have the opportunity to study African drumming & dance, as well as get in shape using Zumba Fitness techniques. This camp is catered to students (instrumentalists, dancers, & non-dancers) who are interested in expanding their dance & music knowledge through storytelling using rhythms and movement. It is an excellent way to introduce various cultural regions and expose your child to rhythmic and high energy dance styles! Our BMHS P.A.D.Z. Vocal Excellence Camp - $200.00

Description: The Vocal Excellence camp is a 10 day, intensive workshop presented in two sessions, June 27 – July 1 and July 11 – 15.  The camp is designed for serious student singers grade 6 - 12, who wish to strengthen and develop vocal skills while studying the art of singing. Master classes will provide student singers hands-on opportunities to explore performance etiquette, posture, phrasing, style, and lyrical communication. Vocal techniques will include the formation of posture, breathing, phonation, articulation and resonance.
Other classes will explore principles of sight-singing and music theory. Exercises centered on improvisation will be introduced. Specific activities will foster the student singers ease with gesturing and movement while singing.

Stitch It Sewing and Fashion Camp - $300

Description:  All aspiring designers will love this camp!  New and improved from last summer we have added some fresh components to each day.  Students will learn to sketch and design, how to construct a garment, how to plan a fashion show and so much more!  Each camper will have their own workstation, sewing machine, sketch book, and all materials provided for each design and garment.  Sessions are weekly and are broken up in groups as *Beginners; and **Advanced/Intermediate Sewers.  Come learn real, practical skills that will last a lifetime!  The culmination of the summer is a finale fashion show.  We hope to sew with you this summer!

NOTE: Class placements are based on the following definitions:

*Beginners have never used a sewing machine before.

** Intermediate/Advanced - Have sewn using a machine by themselves and have participated with a Stitch It Program previously.

Description: Have you ever wanted to learn how to wear makeup like the professionals or style your hair like the models in Teen Vogue?  Well, the Camp Beauty will teach you how to do both!  Join us for the weekly summer sessions and work with professional makeup artist and hairstylist as you learn the latest trends of the industry in an age appropriate setting.  All supplies will be provided which includes individual make-up kits, practice mannequins, and all hair styling materials.  Students who participate with this camp will showcase their talents at the end of the summer during the Stitch It Sewing & Fashion Summer Finale Fashion Show as the Makeup Artist and Hairstylist for the event.  We hope you can join us for an awesome time!

Description:  “You’re NEVER too young to start your own BUSINESS!” Be the Boss Entrepreneurial camp is designed to provide young entrepreneurs with an opportunity to learn, become inspired, and develop the fundamental skills and understanding of starting a business! Camp includes: brainstorming of ideas to start a business, vision board parties and activities, introduction to a business plan, taking an idea from vision to implementation, outside activities, visits from local entrepreneurs, Game Day, and entrepreneurs will gain experience through a Shark Tank activity!

Additional Services

Extended Day 

Extended Day (from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.) is designed for campers who are enrolled in courses from 9:00-4:00 but need to be dropped off before 9:00 a.m. and/or picked up after 4:00 p.m.

Extended Day Costs:

    • $30.00 per camper per week or $10.00 per camper per day for the morning hours of 7:30 a.m.- 9:00 a.m.
    • $50.00 per camper per week or $15.00 per camper per day for the afternoon hours of 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. You may purchase these services separately. 
    • $75.00 per camper per week if both morning and afternoon care are needed
    • The Extended Day program will take place in the Fine Arts Gym which is air-conditioned.
    • There will be a mandatory $1.00 per minute fee (per child) for campers remaining past the 6:00 p.m. camp closing time. This fee is to be paid when the child is picked up. Your child may not return to camp until this fee is paid.

Weekly Lunch Pass

Weekly lunch passes are available for purchase at $30.00 per week per camper. POLICIES PROCEDURES

Registration Fee:

$30.00 per camper (a one-time registration fee per camper per year)

Refunds and Deposit Policy:

There are no refunds of any kind after the start of the first day’s camp session. Bishop McNamara Summer Camp holds the right to close registration for programs that are filled or under-enrolled. If a camp is closed due to a natural disaster, safety, or weather related issues, there will be no cash refunds offered. Depending on the specific circumstances of a closure, the Summer Program Director may be able to offer camp program vouch credits that may be used at a later date.

Payment Methods:

The accepted forms of payment for the summer programs are credit and debit cards (Visa, Discover, American Express and MasterCard). All credit card information is processed in a Secure Online Transaction. If you have any questions about your transaction, contact the Director of Summer Programs at Victoria.Keithline@bmhs.org.

Summer Camp T-Shirts:

For security reasons, each camper must wear the Bishop McNamara Summer Camps T-shirt daily. One shirt is included with registration. Additional T-shirts may be purchased for $10.00 in the Summer Camp Cart.

Mandatory Monday Registration/Check-in/Orientation:

There will be a mandatory registration/check-in/orientation held every Monday morning of all camps. Parents and campers should report to the Fine Arts & Athletic Center Gym to register/check-in by 8:30 a.m.

For those that have pre-registered for camp, please find the designated table for your child’s camp to check-in and pick-up your camp T-shirt.

For those that are walk up registrations, please find the registration table to complete registration. Credit or debit cards and cash are the only accepted forms of payment. You may also purchase additional camp T-shirts and/or weekly lunch passes at the registration table.

Our mandatory parent orientation will begin at 8:50 a.m. The purpose of this orientation is to review certain policies and procedures for the Bishop McNamara Summer Camps and for any general questions that you may have for the BMHS Summer Camp Director, Victoria Keithline.

Drop Off & Pick Up:

There should be no campers dropped off or picked up before camp or after camp hours. Please park at the back of the building and walk your child to the appropriate camp location.

Sign in/out:

For safety reasons, ALL campers, with the exception of those that may be driving themselves, must be signed in and out every day by an adult.

    • Sign out - Only an adult that has been listed on the registration form as an authorized party to pick-up that camper will be allowed to sign out the camper. Please bring your photo i.d. to be checked at the time of sign-out. No camper will be released to an adult that is not listed as an authorized party for that camper.

Late Drop Off:

If you are dropping your child after 9:00 a.m. please park in the front-circle and bring your child in to the main office to be signed in. A BMHS Summer Camps staff member will walk your child to the appropriate camp location.

Early Pick-Up:

Please inform the BMHS Summer Camp Director, Victoria Keithline, ahead of time if you are planning to pick your child up earlier that 4:00 p.m. Please park in the front circle and report to the main office to let the BMHS Summer Camp staff know that you are here to pick up your child and to sign them out. A BMHS Summer Camp staff member will go get your child to bring them to the main office for dismissal. 

Extended Day:

Extended Day (from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.) is designed for campers who are enrolled in courses from 9:00-4:00 but need to be dropped off before 9:00 a.m. and/or picked up after 4:00 p.m.

Extended Day cost is:

    • $30.00 per camper per week or $10.00 per camper per day for the morning hours of 7:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m.,  
    • $50.00 per camper per week or $15.00 per camper per day for the afternoon hours of 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. 
    • You may purchase these services separately. 
    • If both morning and afternoon care are needed, the price is $75.00 per week
    • The Extended Day program will take place in the Fine Arts Gym which is air-conditioned.
    • There will be a mandatory $1.00 per minute fee (per child) for campers remaining past the 6:00 p.m. camp closing time. This fee is to be paid when the child is picked up. Your child may not return to camp until this fee is paid.

Lunch/Snacks:

Photographs:

We reserve the right to take photographs of your child and use them in our brochures as well as advertisement. If you do not want your child to be photographed, please speak with the Summer Programs Director, Victoria Keithline.

Medical:

List any medical problems your child may have on the registration form and complete the Medical Authorization, Medical Release & Permission to Treat Form for each Camper.

If your child must be administered medication during camp hours, parent must complete the MD State Medication Administration Authorization Form Follow all directions for medications as directed on the form. The medicine must be left with our Certified Athletic Trainer on Monday morning of the week of your child’s scheduled camp in a Ziploc bag clearly marked with your child’s name on it. You must pick up your child’s medicine on the last day of camp.
