Dr. Nigel A. Traylor, Principal
Dr. Nigel Traylor is from Stone Mountain, Georgia and is the Principal of Bishop McNamara High School. Previously the Assistant Principal and Academic Dean of Bishop McNamara High School, Dr. Traylor is an exemplary model of Holy Cross ideals who has served the School for several years. Dr. Traylor has served in many administrative and leadership roles throughout his career. He holds several degrees, including a Doctorate of Education with a specialization in educational and organizational leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Traylor has completed his Master of School Leadership degree from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a Certificate in Advanced Education Leadership from Harvard University.
Not only is Dr. Traylor an accomplished scholar, but he is considered by his colleagues at Bishop McNamara to be a visionary in his field. He works tirelessly with our faculty, staff and administration for the progress of the School and our extraordinary students.
"As a leader I cherish traditions, however I believe that it is important to value new ideas," he said. "Transformational leadership is when a leader works with others to identify needed change, creating a vision to guide the change through inspiration, and executing the change in tandem with committed members of a group. We need to exude and encourage positivity at McNamara with intentionality and purpose."
Dr. Traylor has an exciting vision to promote and expand the Bishop McNamara standard of excellence.
"First and foremost I believe that everything we do must be rooted in mission and also in the best interest of the students," he said. "We need to ensure that we provide our families with the best Catholic educational experience of which they can be proud. We all must be committed to finding a way to help every student reach his or her highest potential with compassion and dignity." Dr. Traylor is a member of the American Research Association, Association of School Administrators, Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, Music Educators National Conference, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He looks forward to building relationships with the community and maintaining the commitment to providing students with a well rounded liberal arts education, grounded in our Catholic and Holy Cross mission!
