Traditional African Music & Dance

African Dance

Few people in the West know much about Traditional African Music and Dance or are aware that it possesses precise rules and codified movements. Traditional African Music and Dance is an essential element of Africa's cultural heritage because it is the living expression of its philosophy, and the living memory of its evolution and cultural wealth over the centuries.

Specific and required skill sets and techniques in African drumming and dance are introduced, nurtured, instilled, and developed for general/specific knowledge in ancient traditions of music and dance forms with particular attention to its societal contexts and relevance.

Traditional african music & dance Presents sankofa night 2018: violet, a story about loveViolet, is a Dance Drama that depicts the life of six women who help one another discover the beauty in themselves, in life, and in love. Through music, dance and theatre, Sankofa Night 2018 delves into the highs and lows of these remarkable characters who are loosely based on Alice Walker’s The Color Purple.
