Spotlight on Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni or Programs!
Social Studies Department Chairperson Mr. Michael Pozniak and his Honors Global Studies classes hosted on February 20th the second annual Asia Symposium in the Andy Mona '82 Student Center.
Using iPads and technology to help with their presentations, students shared their insights, presented research and provided information on East and Southeast Asia on such topics as feminism in Japan, the culture of anime, and the exploitation of garment workers, as well as others.
Faculty and students throughout the school were invited to see and experience student presentations about Asia that included a diverse host of topics that ranged from trends in secondary education in South Korea and China to types of music listened to among Asian teenagers. More than 200 BMHS students took part in these presentations and members of the Class of 2018 in Honors Global Studies did a terrific job presenting to their classmates about a litany of important topics engaging people who live across Asia.
"It was fantastic to see the students teaching their peers about topics they researched from a global perspective," shared Dr. Nigel Traylor, BMHS Principal.
Congratulations to the Social Studies class participating in this very informative symposium.
