Spotlight on Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni or Programs!
Dr. DeAndra Jamerson is a 2005 graduate of Bishop McNamara and wanted to come here to share her journey through school with those young BMHS women interested in the sciences. Dr. Jamerson, after graduating from BMHS, went to Harvard College, where she earned her A.B. in Human Evolutionary Biology, with a minor in Health Policy in 2009. She then went on to the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, graduating in 2015, and is now a member of the OB/GYN Resident Class of 2019 for SUNY.
The former Upper Marlboro resident wanted to not only share her journey through college and grad school, but to also discuss her recommendations for courses to take while in high school, navigating the study of sciences while in college, as well as opportunities young women can take advantage of while in high school, college, and beyond. Dr. Jamerson provided the students with a comfortable forum to ask any questions that they may have or to receive advice that they may need.
The young women of BMHS learned so much about course selections, and gained a first-hand insight into their future in Science and Innovation careers for women.
Our heartiest thanks to Dr. DeAndre Jamerson '05 for sharing this day with us!
