PARENT GIVING

"Bishop McNamara High School embraces the parents as much as they embrace the kids. That really attracted me, and it felt good that they know who you are when they talk to you, they’re approachable – you just get a good feeling being here!"

I grew up going to Catholic school in California, so I am a big believer in Catholic education. It has a foundational element that is important to me. When I was looking at schools in this area for my children, I knew I needed to find a Christ-centered school with a caring, passionate administration that was genuinely interested in students and their academics. I was deeply impressed with Dr. Clark; he personally greeted me and my children at every encounter in a school of approximately 800 students with 1600 parents/guardians. That just sat well with my spirit, that this was the right place for my children to be with such a personable administration that was interested in their success. Bishop McNamara High School embraces the parents as much as they embrace the kids. That really attracted me, and it felt good that they know who you are when they talk to you, they’re approachable – you just get a good feeling being here!

This is my third year serving as President of the Bishop McNamara High School Parents’ Club. I see the Parents’ Club as an extension between parents, the School and the students. We provide assistance and support to parents when it comes to helping our children be successful in any aspect of their lives. When your children go to high school, it’s entirely different from when they go to middle and elementary school; you’re more involved and engage in more hands-on activities when your children are younger. But as they get older and the move on to high school, you’re teaching them to be more independent and accountable, but at the same time, you still want to be involved. They’re growing up, but they still need us! That’s where the Parents’ Club comes in. We help parents and their children when it comes to handling stress, looking for colleges, time management and all the other things that come with high school life. We strive to be supportive and focused on the parents and what we can bring to them as far as what’s going on in the life of their student.

I am a strong proponent and supporter of this School. When they say “welcome home,” I feel that in my heart. I do my part to support the kids, I love to see them grow and how the School rises to meet them where they are. It means everything to me. I may not be the biggest donor to Bishop McNamara, but I believe in what they’re trying to do. I believe in the vision they’re setting forth in transforming the School into a better learning environment for the kids. I want to do what I can to help fulfill that mission.

If you’re considering making a donation to Bishop McNamara High School, get off the fence and donate! You’re investing in the future, and you’re helping set the path for our young people. We don’t know all of the possibilities that the future holds, but if we can prepare our young people now and give them the tools to help them succeed, we will see and celebrate the rewards they achieve in the future.
