5k for the Arts Raises $22,000 for Fine Arts Program

The 2025 Bishop McNamara High School annual 5K for the Arts was a terrific event that raised over $22,000 for our Arts programs while providing a day of community building, raising awareness for arts programs, friendly competition through timed runs with awards for top finishers (students/adults), and a festival atmosphere, making fitness fun while supporting creativity! Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, sponsored, and supported our Arts programs through this event, and congratulations to all of our top finishers and fundraisers!

The 5K for the Arts is one of the most anticipated events of the year, where our students, families, friends, and benefactors come together to support and show their pride for the Fine Arts programs of Bishop McNamara High School. The money raised for this event helps each Fine Arts program purchase essential supplies and equipment for our students' programs, including costumes, sewing machines, musical instruments, art supplies, sheet music, and specialized computer software.
The event was held on September 26 at the Bladensburg Waterfront Park with over 200 people participating, including runners, walkers, strollers, and support dogs.
Mrs. Dana Shieh, Director of Fine Arts, shared this message about this annual event:
The 5K for the Arts reflects the true heart of Bishop McNamara. Our community is filled with people who care for and support one another, and that spirit shines at the event. Parents generously volunteer to help organize, runners and walkers show up with enthusiasm, and together we create a wonderful celebration of our Fine Arts students.
