A military dependent who went to various schools and graduated high school from Lakenheath High School in England. Ms. Janay Middelton began her studies at University of Maryland Eastern Shore where she majored in photography, and later transferred to Bowie State were she changed her Major to Visual Communication & Digital Media Arts (VCDMA) with a concentrate in Advertising Design, graduating in Fall 2014. While attending Bowie State University, she completed her internship at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, VA. She created and updated graphic and multimedia elements for web pages, and converted documents and publications for electronic dissemination in formats such as HTML, PDF and TXT.
While attending Bowie State she created logos for two non-profit organizations were she provided the organization with marketing materials and a re-vamped their brand. Ms. Middelton has mentored sixth graders at Cesar Chavez Parkside Middle School with Higher Achievement in the District of Columbia. She was a Graphic Designer at Empire Graphics, a local sign shop in Waldorf, where she helped customers with their personal and business advertising needs. Some of her projects included banners, yard signs, post cards, road signs, logo design, business cards, car graphics, building signs, monthly email marketing campaigns and window graphics. Ms. Middelton started her teaching career at Moten Elementary School in S.E. Washington, DC as the Visual Arts Teacher.
She is excited to teach High School and to be joining the Bishop McNamara family!
