Michele D. Vicino-Coleman is an Educator and Professional Theatre Artist throughout the DC Metro Area. After 10 years in the classroom, seven as an elementary school teacher in MCPS, followed by three years as the Theatre Director and Choir Teacher at Archbishop Carroll High School, Mrs. Vicino-Coleman established her own business as a freelance Teaching Artist, Director, Music Director, Choreographer, Actor, and Education Consultant - www.micheledvicino.com.
Mrs. Vicino-Coleman joined the BMHS community for the 2017-18 school year in a brand new role, Fine Arts Coordinator and FADE Advisor. In this role, Ms. V. has enjoyed supporting this flourishing department in operations, events, productions, parent involvement, finance, and organization. As the FADE Advisor, Mrs. Vicino-Coleman employs years of classroom teaching experience to provide students with guidance in pursuing their art form, cultivating a well-rounded appreciation of the arts, portfolio creation, and writing.
When not at BMHS, Ms. V. is the Director of Levine Music Theatre's Youth Performance Institute, teaching theatre arts, acting, movement, and producing two fully staged musicals. She has been an affiliated Teaching Artist with Shakespeare Theatre Company, Round House Theatre, and Imagination Stage, and continues to work with Ford’s Theatre, and Young Playwrights' Theatre as a Teaching Artist, Actor, and Artist in Residence. In addition to her teaching and directing, Ms. V. provides audition and vocal coaching to emerging and young performers. Favorite performance credits include: Legally Blond: The Musical with Silhouette Stages (Paulette Bonafonte'), Wake Up, Brother Bear at Imagination Stage (u/s Sister Bear, performed), According to Shakespeare with InterAct Story Theatre (World Premier, professional school tour), Cabaret (LuLu) and Ragtime (Ensemble, Dance Captain) at Montgomery College Summer Dinner Theatre, La Traviata, Carmen, and Aida with Wolf Trap Opera and The Washington Chorus.
Mrs. Vicino-Coleman holds a degree in Elementary Education and Music from Messiah College, and a Masters in Theatre Education from The Catholic University of America.
