Mrs. Phyllis Ballenger is a retired teacher of the deaf, a freelance sign language interpreter and an Adjunct Professor at Gallaudet University. While 2016 was Mrs. Ballenger's first year at BMHS, she has been teaching for over 30 years. In addition to teaching American Sign Language to our students, she is the Co-Chair of the Modern & Classical Language Department.
Mrs. Ballenger has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Pathology & Audiology from Shaw University in Raleigh, NC. She has also received a Master of Education Degree in Deaf Education from McDaniel College (formally as Western Maryland College) in Westminster, Maryland, and has completed her course work for a Masters in Audiology at Towson University in Towson, Maryland.
