Ms. Denise Kazimer, the Bishop McNamara High School Science Department Chair, has been teaching at BMHS for over 20 years. A 1989 graduate of La Reine High School, she continued on to the Pennsylvania State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science. She later earned a Master of Science of degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at El Paso. Ms. Kazimer was a certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association for 20 years before retiring her certification in 2013. In 1993, Ms. Kazimer was the first certified athletic trainer employed by Bishop McNamara, holding that position for 13 years before deciding to move into the classroom on a full time basis. She was also responsible for introducing the sports medicine and forensic classes to the curriculum. In 2012, she was honored with the Caritas Award for Distinguished Faculty Service.
 
Teaching Honors Anatomy and Physiology, as well as Forensic Science, she explains, “I enjoy teaching at Bishop McNamara because of the feeling of family that exists between the members of the school community. Our students are amazing and I get excited sharing their “light bulb” moments, when they finally understand or apply what they have learned.” Ms. Kazimer additionally is the Moderator of the Science National Honor Society and also serves as the Secretary of the Bishop McNamara and La Reine High School Alumni Association.
