McNamara Global Fellows

Campus Ministry Trip to Belize

Educating Hearts & Minds
Across Borders

The World is Our Classroom

Belize Trip

At Bishop McNamara High School, we believe that true education transcends the four walls of a classroom. The McNamara Global Fellowships represent our commitment to educating hearts and minds through intentional, mission-driven travel and immersion. What began as individual service trips and cultural exchanges has evolved into a unified, prestigious pathway for students to engage with the world.

Through our Fellowship Pathways, students don’t just visit new places; they undergo a profound formation. By stepping across borders, our Fellows expand their worldviews, deepen their sense of global solidarity, and sharpen the leadership skills necessary to navigate and transform the 21st-century landscape.

This isn’t just travel. It is a journey of becoming.

The Fellowship Distinction: More Than a Trip

While many schools offer travel, a McNamara Global Fellows is a deliberate journey of formation. To ensure these experiences are transformative and mission-aligned, every Fellowship is built upon three core expectations:

Intentional Preparations

Global Learning Icon

Fellows engage in pre-departure orientations that explore the history, culture, and social justice context of their destination. We don’t just arrive; we arrive prepared to learn.

Active Presence

Two cupped hands in the foreground hold a maroon heart in the background.

Whether serving in Belize or studying with CIEE, students move beyond the role of a tourist. Through daily reflection and immersion, they develop the "cultural humility" and empathy central to our Holy Cross identity.

Reflection & Integration

Global Ideas

Fellows return transformed. They reflect deeply on their impact. They integrate new insights into our community and classrooms. This ensures global learning enriches our home campus.

Explore Your Pathways

Our Pathways transform the four pillars of Holy Cross into lived experiences. By engaging in these diverse domestic and international tracks, students move beyond the classroom to Educate their Hearts and Minds, Build Respect across cultures, and Bring Hope to our Global Family through service and leadership.

Voices of Our Global Fellows

Student Name '27

"Stepping into a classroom in Belize, I quickly realized that I wasn't just there to teach—I was there to learn. Sharing lessons with the students and seeing their faces light up taught me that Building Respect is a universal language."

"The days in the fields were long and the work was physically demanding, but there was something deeply spiritual about working the land. As we helped cultivate the crops, I realized that Educating the Heart means understanding where our most basic needs come from."
— Class of ’25 Global Fellow

"Serving in the soup kitchens of Camden was a powerful reminder that our mission doesn't stop at the shoreline. As we sat and shared meals with the guests, the pillar of Being Family became very real; I wasn't just 'feeding the hungry,' I was honoring the dignity of my neighbors."
