Brenda Stephens
Head CoachA cornerstone of the athletic department for over 30 years, Ms. Brenda Stephens serves as the Chairperson of Physical Education at Bishop McNamara High School. With a career spanning both Bishop McNamara and La Reine High School, she currently leads courses in Personal Fitness, Lifetime Sports, and Archery.A veteran coach with experience ranging from high school to NCAA Division II volleyball, Ms. Stephens is dedicated to more than just physical excellence. "I value the structure and discipline we instill in our students," she shares, "but above all, I strive to teach them to be kind, good-hearted people."She is the Head Coach of the Varsity Coed Archery team. She is currently building this new program, which has quickly grown into a competitive team under the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). Partnering with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Ms. Stephens establishes Bishop McNamara as a hub for the sport by hosting local tournaments.Ms. Stephens holds a B.S. in Health and Physical Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. -
Aurore Anastassiadis
Mrs. Aurore Anastassiadis was part of the Science Department at Bishop McNamara High School for two years before moving to Muscat, Oman where she taught Science and SCUBA diving at an IB school there. Now back in the area, Mrs. Anastassiadis teaches Algebra I here at BMHS. Originally from France and Greece, she is very passionate about sharing her knowledge of foreign cultures with students and encouraging them to discover the world. She started her career as an educator in 2015 when she moved to Japan. She has taught almost exclusively in Catholic schools, believing it is important to educate the whole person, allowing teachers to not only increase their knowledge, but also to help one another on their faith journey.
Prior to her move to Japan, Ms. Anastassiadis was a marine biologist for four years, receiving her degree in the field from Colby College in 2011. In 2019, she completed her Master's Degree in Leadership in Teaching from the University of Notre Dame of Maryland.
In her spare time, Mrs. Anastassiadis loves to read, bake, knit, and hike with her husband, Will, and two rescue dogs, Atlas and Chapati. -
Deanna Warnock
Ms. Deanna Warnock serves as the Assistant Director of Admissions for Bishop McNamara High School. A native of central New Jersey, Ms. Warnock attended Loyola University Maryland and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance. She spent several years working as a Financial Analyst supporting Project Management teams. A few years ago, she tapped into her artistic side and made a career shift, working first as the Marketing Director of Archbishop Neale School in LaPlata, Maryland before joining Bishop McNamara, as well as opening her own creative studio focused on graphic design and promotional items. She is currently working towards her Six Sigma Green Belt Certification in Marketing.As a parent of a BMHS Class of 2022 student, wife of an alumni, BMHS archery coach, and Assistant Director, Bishop McNamara is a big part of Ms. Warnock’s work-life balance. She offers a distinct opportunity of being in a multi-faceted role. “I am in a unique situation where I have the ability to influence how the admissions process works and improve it based on the knowledge I have from a parent’s perspective. I look forward to assisting our prospective families throughout this process.”

Bullseye! Bishop McNamara Archery Takes Second at State; Three Qualify for Nationals
Congratulations to the Bishop McNamara High School Varsity Archery team on their outstanding performance! Under the leadership of Head Coach Brenda Stephens, a cornerstone of the Bishop McNamara Athletics department for over 30 years, and Assistant Coach Aurore Anastassiadis, the Mustangs secured a silver-medal finish at the 2026 Maryland State NASP Bullseye Tournament held at the Carroll County Ag Center. Competing against top talent from across the state, the Mustangs finished second in the High School division with a formidable score of 3,011 points.
The program's success extended beyond the scoreboard. Seniors Danielle Johnson and Zion Covington were honored with $1,000 NASP Scholarships, recognizing their dedication to the sport.
"We are incredibly proud of this team's growth and precision," said the coaching staff. The journey continues this spring for three standout archers: Kyla Hill ’28, Janiyah Jones ’26, and Ayden Nguyen '27. These student-athletes have officially qualified to represent McNamara at the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Eastern National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky, from May 7–9, 2026.
