Application Process

The application process for admissions varies depending on student's current school and grade.

We have provided details below for the Application Process for each option. Be sure to mark all important deadlines and dates for this process.

SELECT AN OPTION BELOW:

8th Grade Students in Archdiocese of Washington Catholic Schools

  • Complete and submit an Online Application along with a non-refundable $65.00 application fee by December 14th.
  • Complete a Records Release Form; send it to BMHS. Records should include the following:
    • Archdiocese of Washington Catholic High School Student Information Form
    • Copies of psycho-educational evaluations, testing and education plans, if applicable
    • Be sure to list Bishop McNamara High School as one of your co-choices on the Archdiocesan High School Placement Test (HSPT) which is taken at your school in December.
    • 8th grade students with Learning Differences, go to St. Joseph Program for more information.

8th Grade Students in Public Schools, Private Non-Catholic, or Home-Schooled

  • Complete and submit an Online Application along with a non-refundable $65.00 application fee and a copy of Records Release Form by December 14th.
  • Complete an additional Records Release Form, send it to the student's school, and arrange to have all academic records sent to the Admissions Office by December 14th including the following:
    • Report cards for 7th and 8th grades
    • Results of standardized achievement and aptitude tests
    • Records of attendance and disciplinary actions
    • If applicable, copies of psycho-educational evaluations, testing and educational plans
  • Arrange to have two completed Teacher Evaluation Forms from current teachers of core subjects (Math, English, Science, or Social Studies) sent to the Admissions Office by December 14th.
  • Register starting in November for the High School Placement Test (HSPT) which is given in December. You can register with the Catholic Schools Office ADW Catholic Schools Office. Be sure to list Bishop McNamara High School as one of your co-choices on the HSPT. Register early to obtain your desired test date/location. To obtain further information about the test, go to Washington Archdiocesan Admissions Test (the HSPT) , email HSPT@adw.org or call the Catholic Schools Office at 301-853-4518.
  • 8th grade students with diagnosed learning differences, go to St. Joseph Program for more information.

Transfer Students in Catholic, Private or Public High Schools

  • Complete and submit an Online Application along with a non-refundable $65.00 application fee and a copy of the Records Release Form.
  • Complete an additional Records Release Form, send it to the student's school, and arrange to have all academic records sent to the Admissions Office by the admissions deadline including the following:
    • For transfer students in 9th grade: Report cards for 8th and 9th grades
    • For transfer students in 10th grade: Report cards for 9th and 10th grades
    • Results of standardized achievement and aptitude tests
    • Records of attendance and disciplinary actions
    • If applicable, copies of psycho-educational evaluations, testing and educational plans
  • Arrange to have two completed Teacher Evaluation Forms from current teachers of core subjects (Math, English, Science, or Social Studies) sent to the Admissions Office by November 1st/March 15th.
