Student Council

The purpose of the Student Council is to promote a sense of leadership among students. Its mission is to encourage the involvement and participation of students in all social, political and recreational aspects of the school. As an easily accessible body of opinion, it is a forum in which the concerns and points of view of both students and the administration may be expressed. The Student Council is designed to be viewed as an organization that provides an influential voice regarding all phases of school life. Special Student Council activities include Freshman Orientation, Homecoming Week, Food Drive, Blood Drive, regularly scheduled meetings and elections for Class and Student Council officers.

Senior Class Council

The purpose of the Senior Class organization is to develop and display a leadership role in the school.Specific senior events include hosting the Back to School Dance/Mixer and Homecoming Dance, Homecoming activities including shed painting, purchasing Senior Class T-Shirts with regularly scheduled Senior “Dress” Days, Thanksgiving Dinner and Senior Prom as well as all traditional end-of year graduation week activities.

Junior Class Council

The purpose of the Junior Class organization is to promote class spirit/school spirit and to encourage a more prominent leadership role in the school community as upperclassmen. Specific events include Homecoming activities, the Junior Ring Ceremony and the reception following the Baccalaureate Mass. The class may schedule a “Casual Dress Day” to raise money for an approved charity and class projects.

Sophomore Class Council

The purpose of the Sophomore Class organization is to create unity and a positive sense of worth as a sophomore and as a class. It also establishes leadership/committees and a positive working environment for the students. Specific events include Homecoming activities, hosting the Junior Ring Ceremony reception, and working with the Director of Student Activities to schedule ring order dates in the spring. The class may schedule a “Casual Dress Day” to raise money for an approved charity and class projects.

Freshmen Class Council

The purpose of the Freshman Class organization is to help the freshman class move successfully toward sophomore year and ultimately graduation. The hope is to establish their class identity and role as positive contributors to the quality of school life. Specific events include Homecoming activities, donut sales on exam days and an Ice Cream Social. The class may schedule a “Casual Dress Day” to raise money for an approved charity and class projects.

BMHS News

​On Friday, October 24, Mr. Shane Scott, Founder & CEO of Impruv ED, along with two of his former students Ms. Areeg Hawa and Mr. Leith Jaber, who now attend school and work in the United States, came to Bishop McNamara to speak about the Palestinian/Israeli conflict to Mr. Michael Pozniak's and Mr. Chris Williams' senior Global Studies classes.

Anthony Sosnoskie was hired by the Bishop McNamara High School Athletic Department to replace Larry Prange, head coach of the varsity men's baseball team.
