The Bishop McNamara High School Dance Program offers excellent training and a comprehensive dance education in the classical styles of dance. Students are given the opportunity to engross themselves in the education of ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and contemporary technique, Improvisation and composition. With 4 levels of training, the BMHS Dance classes are designed in a way that students are able to learn proper terminology, dance etiquette, and body alignment for their personal level of technique. Our dance program incorporates critical and creative thinking skills as well as encouraging self-awareness. Honors courses are available to Dance IV and Tap IV level students.
BMHS Dance program also offers students multiple performance experiences including the Annual Spring Festival.
Classical Dance contains two tracks: Dance Track and Tap Track.
Master Class with Anthony Burrell is BACK ON!
On Thursday November 16, the Bishop McNamara Classical Dance Program will be hosting a Master Class with Creative Director and Choreographer to the stars, Anthony Burrell. Class will be an Intermediate/Advanced Contemporary Class from 7:30-9:00 p.m.
Anthony is a long standing member of Beyonce's creative team, and was for several years Creative Director and a dancer for Mariah Carey. Anthony is a former Alvin Ailey Company Member who has choreographed for Rihanna, Tinashe, and Brandy to name a few. To learn more about Anthony Burrell, you can visit his website.
The class will be $20 for currently registered Fine Arts Classical or African Dance students. To register, please see Mrs. Keithline or Ms. Ward in the Dance Office.
We are also offering this class to dancers outside of the BMHS community (non students) for a fee of $30. To register, please purchase a general admission ticket from Seat Yourself.
