The retreat program is designed to provide opportunities for spiritual formation that are appropriate to the developmental level of the students and challenges them in their faith.
The Freshman Retreat is a part of the orientation process and focuses on students becoming Holy Cross men and women. The Sophomore Retreat is an off-campus retreat in which students will focus on the pillar of "building respect." Juniors attend the Kairos retreat, which is 3 days and 2 nights at an off-site retreat house. The Senior Retreat provides an opportunity for the entire class to come together on a day-long retreat in a spirit of prayer.
Freshman Retreat News and Information
The Class of 2019's Freshman Retreat will be held at Bishop McNamara on Friday, August 21, 2015, from 8:00 AM to 2:50 PM.
Sophomore Retreat News and Information
The Sophomore Retreats will be held on Monday, September 21 and Tuesday, September 22, 2015. Half of the sophomore class will be attend the retreat on the 21st. The other half of the class will attend the retreat on the 22nd.
Junior Kairos Retreat sign-ups occur at the beginning of September (check announcements for details about the specific date). At that time, all juniors will be scheduled for one of the four Kairos retreats happening during the school year. Subsequently, any student wanting to change his/her retreat needs to find a fellow junior that is willing to swap places. Those students then need to come to Campus Ministry to make the change official.
The Kairos experience is a 3 day, 2 night opportunity to literally retreat (“get away”) from every-day life in order to focus on one’s own personal relationship with God. The graces we seek on the Kairos retreat are that each student will have a transformative encounter with God and grow in gratitude, clarity, and self-knowledge. These graces are sought both through the student’s personal prayer and reflection, and also in his/her relationships with others, especially classmates.
Four Kairos retreats will be offered during the 2015-2016 school year. Dates are listed below:
October 7-9, 2015
December 2-4, 2015
February 24-26, 2016
April 6-8, 2016
