Bishop McNamara High School is pleased to congratulate our three winners of the Rotary Club of Upper Marlboro's Young American of the Month Awards. For the month of November, Jasmine Adgerson, for the month of January, Ana Walton, and for the month of March, Kyle Musselman.
This award is given annually to three seniors from each of the ten high schools in southern Prince George's County in the district of the Rotary Club of Upper Marlboro. The award honors students who have shown excellent academic performance, and who are dedicated to serving their communities.
Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. There are currently 1.2 million Rotarians, members of the 31,936 Rotary clubs in 166 countries.
While Rotary is not a political organization, Rotarians are vitally concerned with everything pertaining to good citizenship and the election of good men and women to public office. Rotary is also not a charitable organization, yet its activities exemplify the charity and the sacrifices that one should expect from people who believe that they have a responsibility to help others. Additionally, Rotary is built on those eternal principles that have served as the moral compass for people throughout the ages, despite not being a religious organization.
The award recipients are all eligible for one of five scholarships awarded by the Rotary Club to graduating seniors headed to college. We wish them the best!
