Spotlight on Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni or Programs!
On January 24, 2017, Bishop McNamara High School hosted its annual State of the School Address.
President/CEO Dr. Marco Clark '85 gave some valuable insight comparing 20th-century schools to 21st-century schools and how education has evolved over the years. Specifically, he emphasized how changes in educational practices have focused more on student interests and collaboration, forming students into more motivated and effective leaders.
He also shared how the School will be changing with the construction of the Andy Mona '82 Student Center under way and plans shaping up for the La Reine Science Center. This new facilities will help shape our 21st-century learning space and help us continue to provide the most modern and state-of-the-art resources for our students.
The audience posed questions concerning the new curriculum and how else the School would change to become a more 21st-century learning space. In response, BMHS Principal Dr. Robert Van der Waag revealed a few of the new course offerings that will be available to students next year, one of which would be a video game design class.
