Astronaut/BMHS Grad Aboard Space Station Print E-mail

Astronaut and BMHS graduate Colonel Timothy J. Creamer (Photo courtesy of NASA)Colonel Timothy J. Creamer is a 1978 Bishop McNamara graduate and a NASA Astronaut aboard the International Space Station. Creamer, one of the Flight Engineers of the Expedition 22 in the Kibo laboratory, is working on, among other things, the laboratory's newest robotic arm. The crew has been busy with robotics activities and preparations for upcoming spacecraft departures. Creamer also worked with 3D space experiments testing how altered visual perception affects motor control.

Pictured here, left to right, are BMHS Principal Marco Clark, Allison Morris '11, John Corley '12, BMHS President Heather Gossart, Marlon Crook '13 and Bowie Mayor, Mr. Fred Robinson.Three students of Bishop McNamara were recognized Wednesday night by the City of Bowie's Education Committee for their leadership and academic accomplishments. At a Student Recognition Ceremony held February 24th, Bowie residents Allison Morris '11, John Corley '12 and Marlon Crook '13,  in the presence of BMHS President Heather Gossart and Principal Marco Clark, were presented their awards by the Mayor of Bowie, Mr. Fred Robinson. Congratulations Allie, Marlon and John!

Blessed Brother Andre Bessette to be canonized in Rome on Oct. 17th

Brother Andre Will Become First Saint of the Congregation of Holy Cross

This week our Holy Father, Benedict XVI, held a consistory of all the Cardinals in Rome to obtain their votum on the canonization of Blessed Andre Bessette, C.S.C. The Cardinals affirmed the Pope's decision and so he announced that Brother Andre will be canonized in Rome on October 17, 2010.

Brother Andre's early life was marked by physical frailty, poverty, illiteracy and family tragedy; amidst them all, prayer was his peace and joy.

This past summer, Alex Vinci ‘11 and Joshua Crockett ‘10 put together a video to express what BMHS is really like, and why they love our school.  It was shown at a national leadership conference in Indiana of student delegates from various Holy Cross schools. It's Holy Cross Week, so... here it is!
