Daniel Artin, Class of 2010 Man of the Year, spent the month of July in Ethiopia volunteering to tutor HIV-positive children at an orphanage. Daniel returned from his experience inspired by the students he tutored and strengthened by a deeper connection to his heritage. Daniel Artin from the Class of 2010 receives the Man of the Year Award from President Elect, Mr. Marco Clark (photo courtesy of Gazette.net)The Bishop McNamara High School Family would like to congratulate the BMHS Class of 2010 on their commencement Saturday, May 29 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.

The distinguished Class of 2010's accomplishments include a 99% college attendance rate, with over 55% of the graduates earning academic scholarship awards. As a whole, Bishop McNamara's 44th graduating class earned an unprecedented $15 million in scholarships and aid to attend some of the finest institutions of higher education in the United States.

Biology Students Explore Biotechnology on MdBioLab Print E-mail

BMHS student participates in MDBioLabLast week Biology students had a chance to explore the world of biotechnology on the MdBioLab. Students performed either "Crucial Concentration" (an assay of protein concentration in different sports drinks), "Wildlife Forensics" (using gel electrophoresis to find the species origin of shark fins confiscated by wildlife officials) or "Oil Spill" (investigating methods to remediate oil spills). This teaching effort was coordinated by BMHS Science department faculty Mrs. Steeger, Mrs. Cassidy and Mr. Wicks.

Mr. Michael Hunt - New BMHS Principal Print E-mail

BMHS President Elect, Marco Clark with new principal, Mr. Michael Hunt. Picture by Alex Vinci '11.Bishop McNamara High School welcomes Mr. Michael Hunt as the 8th Principal in the school's history. He was introduced to the faculty and staff in a special meeting on Thursday, and to the student body on Friday, May 21st. 

Mr. Hunt has had an illustrious career as a professional educator and administrator in the Washington Metropolitan area. Currently he is the Academy Programs Director at Wheaton High School in Montgomery County, MD. The program that Mr. Hunt administers is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) based career pathway model that has received national recognition including receiving recognition as the top Engineering program in the country!
