Ms. Janet Steeger has been teaching for 25 years, 24 of those in Catholic schools. Before that, she worked for several years as a science research associate in the Fisheries Department at Auburn University. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Henderson State University and a Master of Science degree in Natural Science from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Ms. Steeger currently holds an Advanced Professional Teaching Certification in Biology Grades 7-12 from the Maryland Department of Education and has been teaching at Bishop McNamara since 2008.
 
Ms. Steeger teaches AP Environmental Science, Food Science and Honors Biology at Bishop McNamara.

Her teaching philosophy includes challenging her students with a rigorous curriculum and making connections to current science issues in the news using field and laboratory experiences. Ms. Steeger views her work as a prayer for students to do their best and to learn something new every day. She is the moderator of the Science and Ecology Explorers (SEE) club. Their most recent club activity is adding rain barrels to the native plant garden in the school's courtyard.
